After you complete your academic or professional studies, you then have to look for a well paying and stable job and  settle down in a good career. Some times you might have to compromise on your first job expectations especially on salary  but as soon as you get a  few years under your belt any problems in this area will fade away with your growing job experience. Among all the different career salaries, engineering salaries are rated to be the highest so whatever compromises are made early on will be well worth it.

Engineering Salary Information:

As reported in the Sacramento Business Journal, in its summer salary survey, the Association has also reported that among the top five highly paid degrees in 2010, engineering degrees account for four with Computer science being the only other non-engineering degree.

It has listed petroleum engineers at the top, receiving the highest salary offers at $74,799. A news release has put chemical engineers in the second with offers at $65,628 and non-engineering computer science graduates in third place. Computer engineering graduates have been placed fourth with offers at $59, 917 and electrical or electronics engineering graduates in fifth pace with offers of $59,381. The association has also said that although 2010 has shown high salaries, the average salaries have gone down marginally for engineering graduates, barring chemical engineers who have gained marginally.

Marilyn Mackes, the association executive has said in the release, “Those high starting salary offers reflect the uneven supply and demand that exists for these graduates, even in the current economy. “All of the top five earners are in short supply,” Mackes said. “Each accounts for less than 1 per cent of the degrees granted.” Mechanical engineers also had a marginal increase in their salaries with offers at $58, 881. Mechanical engineers employed in government and private sectors earn quite high salaries. Engineering salaries usually vary according to education and experience. Location and type of employment also play a part. Engineering salaries can be anything between $50,000 and $100,000 plus.

Engineering Education:

As we are already aware, salaries vary according to educational qualification, branch or field of work, and place of work. In the present job environment  it has been observed over the years that among all graduate degrees, engineering degree holders are the most highly paid. The National Association of Colleges and Employers in its winter salary survey has listed only engineering and computer-related degrees among the top 10 highly paid disciplines. It has reported that in comparison to 2009, graduates of 2010 in these two disciplines can look forward to offers of higher salaries.

Every aspiring engineering graduate should plan his career and work hard to reach the easily attainable high engineering salaries.
